Explore one of The Gambia’s most fascinating nature and cultural attractions on a private tour of Makasutu Cultural Forest. Travel through palm forest and mangroves, take a peaceful boat trip along the creek, look for baboons and tropical birds, and learn about traditional Gambian life.
You will also meet a local palm wine tapper, taste fresh palm juice and enjoy cultural activities inside the forest. Choose between a half-day visit or a full-day tour including buffet lunch and traditional entertainment.
Tour duration: full day / half day
Makasutu Cultural Forest is a 405-hectare ecotourism reserve in The Gambia, featuring diverse landscapes such as palm forest, woodland, savannah, mangroves and the Mandina Bolong creek. During the tour, we explore the forest in search of wildlife like baboons and various bird species, followed by a relaxing boat trip through the mangrove creeks, offering a peaceful view of the natural surroundings.
You will also meet a local palm wine tapper, taste fresh palm juice and learn about traditional harvesting methods. Depending on the day, there may be a visit to a fortune-teller. Guests on the full-day tour will enjoy a buffet lunch with traditional entertainment from a Jola cultural group.
The half-day option is ideal if you want to experience the main attractions of Makasutu Cultural Forest in a shorter time.
The full-day option gives you more time to enjoy the forest and includes a buffet lunch and cultural entertainment.
