Experience the colourful and authentic daily life of one of The Gambia’s best-known fishing communities. On this private half-day tour, I’ll take you to the Atlantic coast, where you can see local fishermen, traditional colourful fishing boats and the lively fish market directly on the beach.
Itinerary
- I’ll pick you up directly from your accommodation and we will drive to Tanji Fishing Village on the Atlantic coast.
- At the fishing beach, we will walk among the colourful traditional boats and experience the busy atmosphere of this working fishing community. You can meet local fishermen and see how fresh fish is brought ashore, sorted and sold.
- We will explore the local fish market and I’ll show you how fishing is part of everyday life in The Gambia.
- We will also visit the traditional smoke houses, where you can see how freshly caught fish is prepared and smoked for preservation.
- After exploring Tanji, I’ll take you back to your accommodation.
